Toyota Ghana Company Limited has over the years been actively engaged in the sponsorship of activities in various areas including health, road safety, environment and education. The company recently joined hundreds of people from all walks of life to participate as the lead sponsor in a fitness campaign organized by Joy FM’s Drive Time presenter, Kwame Sekyiama (Lexis Bill), from the Ayi Mensah toll booth to Peduase. The walk was aimed at encouraging people especially workers to engage in brisk walking and aerobics as a means of being active, burning calories and staying healthy
The campaign was launched on 7th April, 2016 at the Toyota Ghana Company Limited Showroom by the Minister for Youth and Sports, Nii Lante Vanderpuye. At the launch Mr. Vanderpuye commended the organizers for coming up with the initiative and hoped that it would become a regular exercise that would extend across the country to promote healthy lifestyle through fitness exercises.
The maiden event was held on 8th April, 2016 with a very enormous turn out. Partakers of the health walk exercise energetically walked and jogged up the hill amidst cheering to songs from a brass band. The walk was climaxed with a vigorous but enjoyable aerobics session at Peduase. Among those who participated in the exercise was the Minister for Youth and Sports, Nii Lante Vanderpuye, the Executive Director of Toyota Ghana, Dr. Eric Dako, the National Sales and Marketing Manager of Toyota Ghana and other dignitaries. The event also gave participants the opportunity to interact and network.
The fitness campaign will be a monthly event from April to September, to be organized on the second Saturday of every month at 6am at the same venue.
