Volunteers and staff
participating in the clean up |
In line with our corporate policy of being the most environmentally
friendly automobile company in Ghana, Toyota Ghana embarked on
a clean–up exercise as one of the activities planned to
mark our 10th Anniversary celebration.
Organised in Kumasi (Anloga Junction – a densely populated
area) the exercise sought to demonstrate Toyota Ghana’s
commitment to the protection of our environment and the health
of our people in the city of Kumasi, as a socially responsible
corporate citizen.
A number of litter bins were also donated to the KMA to help
them in their quest to address the indiscriminate dumping of refuse
in the metropolis.
Addressing the participants and the media, Mr Johnny Arthur,
Head of National Vehicles Dept, who read a speech on behalf of
the MD, appealed to individuals, development partners, NGOs, civil
society and corporate bodies to effectively play their respective
roles in helping to reduce people’s exposure to diseases
resulting from unhygienic environment and also to take up measures
to break the cycle of diseases by improved management of human,
animal and domestic wastes.
The exercise was undertaken in collaboration with the Waste Management
Department of Kumasi Municipal Assembly (KMA), the Environmental
Protection Agency (EPA) and volunteers from the National Youth
Council as collaborators/volunteers.
