The grand prize put up by Toyota Ghana for it’s Hole-In-One
Golf Tournament sponsored in Damang over the weekend was nearly
won by Mr. Semi Azumah of Abosso Goldfields. His shot was just
a few inches away from the designated hole 18. He, however, won
the prize for “closer to the pin”.
The Men’s trophy was won by Mr. Alfred Baku, also of Abosso
Goldfields. The Ladies’ trophy was lifted by Madam Rose
Coggin of Tarkwa. Other prizes won include longest drive, booby
and some consolation. In all, about 64 amateur golfers participated
in the game.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony, the MD of Toyota Ghana,
Mr. Masato Kimata, said he really wanted one of the players to
take home the topmost Hole-In-One prize of the 3.0 litre 2008
Toyota Fortuner. He explained that this would have been very exciting
especially, as Toyota Ghana celebrates its 10th Anniversary this
year. He promised the Company’s continuous support of the
mining sector with robust and reliable Toyota vehicles proven
to be most suitable for the harsh mining terrain.
The GM of Abosso Goldfields, Mr. Peet Van Schalkwyk expressed
his appreciation to Toyota Ghana for sponsoring the Golf Tournament
there in Damang. He hoped Toyota Ghana will continue their support
of the mining sector and was very happy that they (Toyota Ghana)
has come closer to their doorstep by establishing a branch office
at Tarkwa.
