As part activities to mark our 10th Anniversary, we organised
a Tree Planting exercise in Kumasi. This is in line with our corporate
policy of being environmentally conscious. The exercise took place
on Saturday 31st May, 2008 in collaboration with partners from
the Environmental Protection Agency, Department of Parks and Gardens,
Forestry Department and the National Youth Council.
The message from Toyota Ghana was delivered on behalf of the Managing
Director by Mrs. Dina Caverson, HR Manager. In the speech, she
reiterated that as a corporate body, Toyota Ghana has as one of
its key missions the objective of becoming the most customer-focused
and environmentally friendly automobile company in Ghana. By planting
trees, we demonstrate our commitment to this cause by giving back
to the community as a responsible corporate citizen. We also help
in the restoration of our beloved city – Kumasi, to its
former glory – as the garden city of Ghana.
The Ag. Regional Director of the Environmental Protection Agency
– Mrs. Philomena Boakye-Appiah, who was the Special Guest,
gave an address on the importance of trees and their benefits
to society. She commended Toyota Ghana for taking the initiative
to help maintain the environment, stressing that such activities
are necessary for the sustenance of humanity because when the
last tree dies, the last man dies.
