The Body and Paint branch of Toyota Ghana Company limited (TGCL) organized a seminar for its insurance partners on the 31st of March 2009. The seminar was aimed at strengthening our relationship with the insurance companies, increase our business with them, explain our processes and offer them a platform to share their concerns with us for a smooth and mutually beneficial operation.

In his welcome address, the MD (TGCL), Mr. Masato Kimata urged the insurance companies to consider differentiation in premiums charged on new and used vehicles. He explained that there is usually less risk involved in insuring new vehicles as compared to used vehicles.

The Resource person, Mr. Adam Tettey Larbie (TGCL Tema Branch Manager), spoke on the Active and Passive safety details Toyota considers in designing vehicles. He outlined the importance and benefits of the seatbelt, ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) and the Airbags in our vehicles. He said these safety features when deployed effectively and properly can help reduce the rate of accidents on our roads and save lives.

In his presentation, the Body and Paint Manager Mr. Charles Danquah, made it clear that we really value our relationship with all the insurance companies and promised to continue to provide them with quality service because they represent the bulk of our Body & Paint customers. He also proposed the employment of an independent insurance agent or broker who will be permanently stationed at our premises to attend to customers with insurance issues, to save the customer the usual hustle of pursuing insurance claims.

On the whole, the seminar was very interactive; participants raised a lot of issues which were all addressed to their satisfaction. They were also taken on a facility tour to the Body and Paint Workshop to understand more clearly the practical aspects of a body works job.
