Toyota Ghana came up tops as the most outstanding company among the best performing 100 companies in Ghana at the just ended Ghana Club 100 (GC 100) Awards ceremony held in Accra. This number one position in the 2009 rankings is a marked leap from their previous 3rd position last year.

In addition to this, Toyota Ghana maintained its lead as the best company in the Services Sector for the second year running, also in the GC 100 Awards.

The Ghana Club 100 Award is designed to profile exceptional business practices and economic achievements across the business spectrum in Ghana. The awards recognize innovative projects and reward the companies driving these programmes and improving Ghana’s growth and investment climate.

It measures size, growth and profitability of companies over a three year period.

Commenting on the Award, the MD of Toyota Ghana Co. Ltd (TGCL), Mr. Takahiko Takabayashi, said “This is indeed a great feat and true reflection of what a proper focus on customer service can achieve even in the midst of challenges”. He explained that 2009 was a difficult year especially because of the impact of the global economic crunch on new vehicle sales. As a strategic measure to balance the drop in sales Toyota Ghana focused on strengthening its After Sales Service activities while upholding its “Customer First” principle. He further indicated that our principle of kaizen (continuous improvement) also helped a lot as it always has, because we believe in continuous, incremental improvement.

On consolidating this covetous position, the MD of TGCL, Mr. Takabayashi said, “that will not be easy but with the provision of good quality products, noted for their reliability and dependability, and supported by good customer service, we are optimistic to maintain the position”.

In a related development, TGCL also retained its elevated position in the Hall of Fame (Motor Firm Category), conferred by the Chartered Institute of Marketing Ghana (CIMG) for the 3rd consecutive time. Even before this elevation in 2007, Toyota Ghana had consistently won the CIMG Motor Firm of the year for three years (2004 - 2006).
