Toyota Ghana has once again sponsored the Toyota/CLiF Best Children’s Picture Storybook Illustrator’s Award. This Award was instituted by Children’s Literature Foundation (CLIF), a voluntary, non-governmental public interest organization, in 1996 with seed money from Toyota Ghana with the main objective of encouraging and promoting the production and use of good quality children’s books.
Speaking at the Awards ceremony, the Director of Artists Alliance Gallery and chairman for the function, Prof. Ablade Glover, expressed his appreciation to Toyota Ghana for contributing immensely towards the development of a reading public and an informed society. He appealed to the general public and corporate organizations to join hands with CLIF to nurture the reading habits of children, ensure a knowledgeable future generation and help reduce ignorance from our society.
In his remarks, the MD of Toyota Ghana, Mr. Takahiko Takabayashi, stated that anything that has to do with education is very important to Toyota Ghana, especially, when it concerns children’s education. In the same vein, he reiterated that it is important to celebrate authors, illustrators and publishers of books written solely to engage and enrich the minds of children. He congratulated the award winners and also CLIF for instituting such awards.
