Toyota Ghana has organized its first ever National Technical Skills Contest for its technicians in all the branches. The Toyota National Technical skills contest is a championship competition in which the skills and competence of technicians are put to the test to assess their expertise in service delivery.
The contest, which was in three phases, comprised both theory and practical sessions. In all, six contestants qualified to the finals after being pruned down from 49 in the 1st phase and 15 in the 2nd phase. After excelling in all the stringent conditions and scoring the highest marks in both the theory and practicals, Mr. Jeffrey Ntiamoah of Accra branch won the Trophy.
In his address, the Managing Director of TGCL, Mr. Masato Kimata, congratulated the six finalists for their performance in the competition so far. He also entreated all technicians to put into practice everything they have been taught especially the “Toyota Way” of doing things. He further encouraged the other technicians who were not part of the competition to study well in order to be part of the next organized Skills contest.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Hon. Nii Armah Ashitey was very elated because the winner was from his constituency. He said that in some private sector companies, the customer receives little or no attention forgetting that without the customer, there will not be any business. Thus, he commended Toyota Ghana for coming up with such an initiative aimed at providing its customers with the delivery of the best quality service.

Speaking on behalf of the Minister of Transport, she commended Toyota Ghana for its efforts in equipping and upgrading the skills of its technicians to carry out repairs by providing quality training.
